Appeal court hearing the case between Hon. Wemi Jones a candidate of APC in the last House of Representatives election of Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency challenging the Victory of Hon. T. J Yusuf of PDD has upheld the tribunal judgment in favour of PDP candidate Hon. T. J Yusuf thereby dismissing the petition of APC and its candidates.

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has been asked to restrain Dame Patience Jonathan from holding an emergency meeting of African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) in Abuja on May 15. The court will hear the application to stop the meeting today. The plaintiffs, who include Nana Module Onwodi, Ekemma Ugborough Arisa, Louisa Ono Eikhomun and Deborah Oboh, said the emergency meeting called by Dame Jonathan was called in “bad faith” as it is aimed at scuttling any chance of Aisha Buhari becoming the president of AFLPM. Other defendants in the matter include Juliet Mene, Juliet Pearce, Sonia Adolf and Kate Duru. The case could not go on yesterday when it was called because the procedure for proof of service had not been completed. 60 Killed As Troops Clash With Boko Haram Fighters In Borno

At least 60 people were feared dead in a clash between troops of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army and the militant group Boko Haram around Kayamula village, few kilometres from 21 Armoured Brigade (Giwa Barracks) on Wednesday in Maiduguri. Most of those killed are suspected to be members of the terror group. Kayamula village of Konduga local government area of the state is about 20km drive from Maiduguri which has suffered series of deadly attacks by terrorists in the past. “35 members of the terrorists including women suicide bombers were killed by troops, while 27 residents near Kayamula and Alau Dam villages were slaughtered by insurgents after they were repelled and chased away by troops,” Vanguard quoted a reliable source to have said.
