Buhari, Osinbajo declare assets

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have declared their assets in line with provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Buhari’s Head of Media Team, Garba Shehu. The statement said that the Code of Conduct Bureau on Friday acknowledged the submission of the two leaders’ assets declaration forms. The forms, the statement said, were submitted separately on May 28 and signed for by the organisation’s Chairman, Sam Saba. Obama Congratulates President Buhari, Promises Stronger Ties With Nigeria

The United States president, Barrack Obama yesterday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his emergence as the Nigeria’s new president and Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces. Obama who sent his congratulatory message in a press statement obtained by our correspondent in New York, also promised that his administration would maintain healthier and stronger ties with the government of Nigeria. Speaking further, President Obama said that the American government would continue to build on the US-Nigeria relationship which began in 2010, stressing that he should not relent in his effort to ensure that Nigeria remains united. Obama, also lauded the former president, Goodluck Jonathan, for his sportsmanship during the presidential election which he lost to Buhari. He also said the Maturity displayed by Jonathan during the announcement of the March 28 presidential election averted post election political crisis in Nigeria.

Youths Scramble For Fuel As Tanker Falls At Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Youths numbering over 50 are selling premium motor spirit (PMS) in buckets along the Lagos Ibadan expressway where a fuel-laden tanker fell this morning. A 20 litre bucket was being sold from N1800 upwards, depending on the buyer’s bargaining power. A queue was building up as drivers call on the youths to dispense fuel to their waiting vehicles. As youths struggle to fetch fuel from the fallen tanker, policemen and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) watch. A Fire Service truck belonging to the Ogun State government was also on standby to ensure any fire outbreak is controlled. Similar incidents in the past have ended up in infernos, but Nigerians always take their chances and that was what the youths did.
