Ladies can now move about topless in six American states, court rules

A federal court has made it legal for women in six American states to go topless in public. As reported by the  Washington Times , the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down a Fort Collins, Colorado, topless ban, meaning women can now show more skin in the states of Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Utah without legal repercussions. The city of Fort Collins, Colorado, has decided to end its legal battle and not challenge the federal court’s decision. The court had maintained that banning women from going topless amounted to “unconstitutional discrimination.” Local officials previously claimed that the court’s ruling meant that women would be “parading in front of elementary schools or swimming topless in the public pool;” however, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals previously upheld a federal judge’s conclusion that deemed the ban discriminatory. Davido to make Hollywood debut in ‘Coming to America 2’

The internet was thrown into frenzy yesterday, when the news that Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, better known as Davido will be making his debut appearance in upcoming Hollywood movie, Coming to America 2 surfaced. According to popular Ghanaian/Liberian actor and comedian, Michael Blackson, Davido is expected to appear in a performance scene in the movie. The movie is the sequel to the 1998 blockbuster comedy film. Blackson revealed this in a tweet on his Twitter page: The tweet reads: “Davido told me he has a performance scene in the movie Coming To America 2. Scholarship: Kwankwasiyya sponsors 242 graduates to India for masters’ degree

The Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation has sponsored 242 graduates to India for masters’ degrees, just as the foundation is determined to sponsor a total of 370 graduates this year. Addressing mammoth crowd during a send-off ceremony organized for the beneficiaries, the National Leader of Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, said the 242 students were the first batch of the 370 students to be sponsored abroad for studies by the movement. Kwankwaso said only eight of the 242 beneficiaries would study masters’ degrees in Arabic and Islamic studies in Sudan, while the rest would study in four different Universities in India. The former Kano state governor explained that the gesture was part of the Kwankwasiyya initiative to help the education of youth especially those from the less privileged families. Woman In Court For Beating Mother-in-law To Coma - Crime - Nairaland

A 30-year-old woman, Adenike Olowookere, was on Tuesday remanded in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating her mother-in-law to coma. Olowookere, whose address was not provided, is charged with attempted murder. The prosecutor, Insp. Bankole Olasunkanmi told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 9 at Ado-Ekiti. Olasunkanmi said that the defendant attacked 63-year-old mother-in-law, Mrs Comfort Olowookere. He said that the victim was still in a coma. Olasunkanmi said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 320 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2012. He urged the Court to remand the defendant in prison pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecutions. The plea of the defendant was not taken. Two dead after falling off moving train

Two unidentified men died penultimate Friday morning after they fell off a moving train at the PWD area of Ikeja, Lagos. The deceased persons according to sources were hanging on the train when they fell down when the train was on top speed Sources said the accident occurred after an excavator parked close to the railway line hit the people who hung on the train, while others were said to have jumped off to avoid being hit by the construction equipment. Police Arraign 15 Persons Over Alleged Attempt To Kill Ex-First Lady, Patience Jonathan

The police in Bayelsa State have arraigned 15 persons before the High Court sitting in Yenagoa, the capital, over alleged plot to kill former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, and also rob her of items worth several millions of naira. A 17-count charge of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit felony with armed robbery, malicious injury to property, conspiracy to commit a felony with stealing and burglary was filed against the suspects. The charge sheet was signed by S. A. Ofoegbu Esq. O.C. of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yenagoa. However, when the charges were brought before them, the suspects all pleaded not guilty to the offences mentioned. Air Peace CEO ‘in tears’ as reps recommend him for national award

The house of representatives has recommended Allen Onyeama, chief executive officer (CEO) of Air Peace Airlines, for national honour for evacuating Nigerians stranded in South Africa at no cost. The recommendation was given when Onyeama appeared before the house during Wednesday’s plenary session. The lawmakers also resolved to make Air Peace their main carrier. They had invited Onyeama to honour him for offering to bring citizens caught up in the xenophobic attacks in South Africa back home. Addressing the assembly, Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house, said Onyeama should be commended for the kind gesture. He said the act was a rare show of patriotism that ought to be celebrated. “We hereby commend Mr Allen Onyeama and recommend him to the federal government for higher honours in Nigeria ,” the speaker said. Vincent Enyeama agrees to return as Super Eagles goalkeeper

The former Lille goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama on Friday revealed that he is open to return to the Super Eagles. Enyeama, a former Enyimba goalkeeper, said this in an interview with Brila FM, adding that he will not say no if the country’s football authorities calls for his services.
