The retirement of senior officers of the Nigerian Army announced on Friday by the military high command, is generating massive controversy, as affected officers are accusing the military authorities of sectional and political bias.                                                         Speaking with SaharaReporters on the condition of anonymity, many of the affected officers claimed that their premature retirement from the military was a result of sectional and political considerations  rather than involvement in corruption and partisan politics. The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), yesterday approved the appointment of Mrs Florence Anyanwu as the acting Auditor-General of the Federation (AuGF). This is according to a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary, Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation in Abuja, Mrs Olawunmi Ogunmosunle. It said that Anyanwu took over in acting capacity due to the retirement of Mr Samuel Ukura, who attained the mandatory age of 60 years on June 5, 2016. “Mrs Florence Anyanwu was the Director of Audit in-charge of Legislature, Judiciary and Security Agencies Department of the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation, Nigeria. How Stephen Keshi died in Benin

Family sources have explained how Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, former Nigerian football captain and coach died. Keshi, 54, died early today in Benin, capital of Edo State, just about six months after his wife, Kate died in the United States. According to close family sources, Keshi complained of being unwell just before midnight on Tuesday and he was found to be gasping for breath. He was rushed to Faith Hospital in the Benin Government Reservation Area. He died around 00.30 this morning. His body has been deposited at the Central Hospital in the city. Keshi was born in Azare Bauchi state on 23 January, 1962. He spent most of his growing up years in Lagos. He started playing football for the defunct African Continental Bank in 1979. He joined the New Nigerian Bank in 1980 and played for four years. He joined Stade d’Abidjan in 1985. FG Releases Interim Report On Financial, Assets Recoveries

The Federal Government has finally released the interim report on funds and assets recovered from individuals who looted the nation’s treasury. According to a statement from the office of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the total cash recoveries comes to the sum of seventy eight point three billion Naira; one hundred and eight five million point one US Dollars, three point five million Pounds, and eleven thousand Euros, from May 29, 2015 to May 25, 2016. This comes after the Federal Government failed to publish the list of individuals and the amount stolen on May 29, as earlier promised.
