PDP Crisis: How Shekarau, Mantu, Nnamani, others plan to form new party

There are indications that the current crises rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has taken another turn as some top members of the party are said to have met to discuss how to form a new party. The alleged plan for a new party is said to have been spearheaded by the former governor of Kano State and former Education minister, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, ex-Governor of Jigawa State Sule Lamido and erstwhile Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, Daily Trust reports. According to the report, others said to be involved in the alleged scheme include, former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Muhammed, former deputy governor in the old Sokoto State, Ahmed Muhammed Gusau, former governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, former governor of Cross River State Donald Duke, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, Senator Ibrahim Ida, Adamu Maina Waziri, Ibrahim Idris, Aminu Wali, Abba Dabo, John Odey and Aniete Okon. The 20-year-old central defender has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract. He said: ‘I am very happy to sign for Chelsea, a world-famous club with a reputation for major success. 2016 Budget missing at NASS

The 2016 budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly missing. Recall that President Buhari had on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, presented the budget proposal to the joint session of the National Assembly. But about two weeks later, news of the withdrawal of the budget filtered round. The disappearance of the budget document was announced during a closed-door session at the National Assembly that lasted 90 minutes. It was said that Senate Leader Ali Ndume made the disclosure during the closed-door session, even as the Senators were supposed to commence the consideration of the N6.08tr budget today.

Kwara Teachers Embark On Strike Over Non-payment Of Salary For Four Months

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Kwara State has said primary school teachers in the state will embark on strike, today, in protest of the non-payment of their four months’ salary arrears. Chairman of the union, Comrade Musa Abubakar, said, yesterday, in Kaiama, Kaiama Local Government Area of the state that the union could no longer guarantee industrial harmony in the state following the non-payment of their four months’ salary arrears. “I want to believe they have tried. If the members of the National Assembly are not paid for four months, I doubt if you will see anybody in the red or green chambers. “I recall in Oyo State; they were not paid for just two months and some House of Assembly members did not go to work. “So, for us to have worked for four months without pay, I think the teachers have tried and that is why we told the government that we cannot guarantee any industrial harmony again. “We cannot guarantee any teacher going to class from today to teach with ...

Presidency Says How N5,000 Monthly Allowance Will Be Paid

Nigeria’s vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has shed more light on the proposed N5,000 monthly allowance for unemployed Nigerians, The Punch reports. In a statement issued on Sunday by the senior special assistant on media and publicity to the vice president, Laolu Akande, the federal government would not import food for its school feeding programme. The Presidency has shed more light on the N5,000 monthly stipend.
