NASS LEADERS ELECTION AND APC NIGHTMARE.

It is not a gainsaying any more that political affair in Nigeria for the past two decays has been taken a new look, when it come to electing Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representative and their Deputies respectively. To my surprise I was thinking APC peoples beloved party will learn from a big mistake which put PDP in a jeopardy during the last house which produce David Mark and Tambuwa as against the party anointed candidate to occupy Senate President seat and Speaker of House of Representative respectively which in turn bite them at the long run. Nigerians would have respect the position of the peoples beloved party APC and the Presidency stand not to anoint any candidate vying for any position or political post in the National Assemblies (NASS) but ready to work with any candidate that emerge as a leader for the purpose of internal Democracy, uniting the party and not to fall into donjon which PDP fell into in the time past which turn them to an opposition party a...

Senate Presidency: Saraki-led APC Lawmakers Endorse David Mark for 3rd Term

Following disagreement over the selection of a candidate for senate presidency, some disgruntled APC senators have decided to back David Mark for a third term as the senate president, Sahara Reporters says. Some APC lawmakers led by for former Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State have reportedly reached an alliance with People’s Democratic Party lawmakers overnight to present a PDP candidate as President of the Senate. Immediate past Senate President, David Mark, was named as the likely beneficiary of Mr. Saraki’s revolt. Also it is reported that former Senate President David Mark has been mobilizing disgruntled APC senators to back him for a third term in the premier post at the Senate, Sahara Reporters added. Another source disclosed that several PDP senators were demanding outrageous sums of money from APC leaders in exchange for casting their votes for candidates favored by the party.

Senate endorses life jail for rapists

Senate on Wednesday prescribed life imprisonment for rapists and other sexual offenders. This followed the passage of the Sexual Offences Bill which prescribes life jail for sexual offenders including rape , child sex tourism and people who deliberately infect others with the Human Immuno Virus /Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) . The Bill that was sponsored by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy , Senator Chris Anyanwu , is expected to get the concurrence of the House of Representatives on Thursday. The Bill also prescribed life imprisonment for gang rape and 10 years jail for incest and child pornography respectively or a fine of N 2million other sexual offences would also attract 14 years jail term. Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary , Human Rights and Legal Matters , Senator Umaru Dahiru , in his report said the Bill is meant to redefine and consolidate existing laws on sexual offences. APGA Chairman Sack in Lagos State after Investigation shows he Support Ambode

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has sacked its chairman, Adeshina Olayokun, for supporting Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s election bid. The party said it was shocked when less than 10 days to the governorship election, Olayokun openly declaredsupport for Ambode of the All Progressives Congress even though APGA had decided to support the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Jimi Agbaje. Punch reports that the party in a statement yesterday has appointed Mr. Kayode Alabi as Olayokun’s successor.

Sepp Blatter to resign as FIFA President.

Sepp Blatter is to resign as president of the world football governing body, FIFA. Mr. Blatter is stepping down four days after winning a record five-year term. Mr Blatter became FIFA president in 1998. He had served as a senior official since 1975. FIFA under his watch has been accused of extensive corruption. Senior officials of the body were arrested by Swiss authorities last Wednesday, accused of corruption by United States investigators. Mr. Blatter called for extraordinary congress to elect a successor. He said he has done his best to change peoples’ attitude. He did not mention the corruption case brought by the United States authorities. “I have thoroughly thought about my presidency and the 40 years FIFA has played in my life, I love FIFA more than anything else and I only want to do the best,” he said.

Boko Haram: Service chiefs brief Buhari

Service chiefs briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the security situation in the country on Tuesday. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jubrin, made this known to newsmen in Abuja. Jubrin told State House Correspondents after the closed door meeting that the meeting, the first with the president since his inauguration on May 29, was successful. “Since he was inaugurated as the President and Commander in Chief, this is the first time that we are formally meeting him to give a general security briefing of the country and that went very well.’’ He said the military would like to maintain the level of successes recorded against Boko Haram terrorists and sustain it until they are defeated. He said the military would go back and work the command centre following the President’s directive that it had to relocate to Maiduguri.
